How to Request Editing Access to the People Directory 

Submit a Web Support Ticket to the University Marketing and Communications Web team. Under Request Type, select “Request editing access to the people directory.” You will be notified once granted access. 

Note: You must take and pass the digital accessibility assessment before access can be granted.

If you have profile edits or department profiles that need editing, but don’t have or want web access please fill out the following form.

How to Login to the People Directory 

  1. Login to the people directory at: people.wsu.edu/wp-admin/ with your WSU Network ID and Password.
  2. Select Profiles, located in the lefthand navigation of the dashboard.

How to Add a New Profile in the People Directory 

  1. Login to the people directory at: people.wsu.edu/wp-admin/ with your WSU Network ID and Password.  
  1. Select + New then Profile.

  1. Add the person’s Network ID (in lowercase letters) in the Create Profile section, then select Load.

  1. A new profile page will be created for the user. All their Active Directory information (Name, title, phone, email, address) will load on the page.  
    • Note: If a profile already exists, you will get a notification that a profile already exists. If that happens, try searching for the person’s profile. If you can’t locate the person’s profile, contact the web service center.  
  2. Review the information that loads on the page and make any necessary changes. 
  3. Add a Personal Biography, if applicable. 
  4. Select Publish when finished. 

How to Update an Existing Profile in the People Directory 

  1. Login to the people directory at: people.wsu.edu/wp-admin/ with your WSU Network ID and Password.  
  1. Select Profiles, located in the lefthand navigation of the dashboard. This will bring up a list of all Profiles you have access to.

  1. Locate the Profile you want to make changes to by scrolling through the list of profiles, or by typing the person’s name in the Search Profiles search box.  
    • Note: The search functionality is touchy. It must be spelled exactly the way the person’s Profile name is listed.  
    • Once you locate the profile, hover over the name, and click Edit (Classic Editor) Do not select on Edit (Block Editor). The profile will display in the editor view.

  1. Make any necessary changes. You will have access to make changes to the following information: 
    • Name 
    • Title 
    • Email 
    • Phone 
    • Location 
    • Address 
    • Photo 
    • Department/Area Name 
    • Personal Biography (this content will display on your personal profile. 
  2. Once you have updated the profile, select Update to save the changes. 
  3. Select View Profile to ensure changes were saved and the page looks good. 
    • Note: this will bring up a view of the profile content, but the page design will look different than it does on your website.  

How to Add People to a Directory/Subdirectory (Department/Unit) List

Note: You must add the person to the directory before you can add them to a department/unit subdirectory.

  1. Login to the people directory at: people.wsu.edu/wp-admin/ with your WSU Network ID and Password.
  2. Select (Beta) Directory in the lefthand menu. You will have a list of directories and subdirectories to choose from. There are two main directories listed for CAHNRS: College of Agricultural, Human, and Natural Resource Sciences and Extension. Each main directory has multiple subdirectories listed below it.

  1. Search for your unit/department using the Search Pages box or scroll through the page/s to locate your unit/department.
  2. Select the subdirectory you want to add someone to. See People Directory Taxonomy to determine what your directory and/or subdirectories will be named.

Advance Import fields.
  1. Under People, select (1) + Add People or (2) Advance Import.
    • Option 1 + Add People:
      • Select + Add People button.
      • Enter person’s name in the text box. If they are in the directory, their name will appear below the search box.
      • Select their name when it appears in the options and they will be added to your subdirectory.
    • Option 2 Advance Import:
    • Under the Term drop down menu, select the category or tag (term) you want to use.
      • For example: If you want to import members of the CAHNRS web team, you would select Tags from the Taxonomy dropdown, then CAHNRS Communications Web Team from the Term dropdown.
    • Select Import People

How to Remove People from a Subdirectory

  1. Login to the people directory at: people.wsu.edu/wp-admin/ with your WSU Network ID and Password.
  2. Select (Beta) Directory in the lefthand menu. You will have a list of directories and subdirectories to choose from. There are two main directories listed for CAHNRS: College of Agricultural, Human, and Natural Resource Sciences and Extension. Each main directory has multiple subdirectories listed below it.

  1. Search for your unit/department using the Search Pages box or scroll through the page/s to locate your unit/department.
  2. Select the subdirectory you want to remove someone from. Refer to the Categories and Tags for Departments, Schools, and Programs section to determine what the title (tag) of your subdirectory is.
